no way, man...now 1911's, on the other hand...with all those curly-que beaver tails and fancy accessories (thumb safety, hammer, etc.) hanging off 'em...heck, some of 'em even have pearl grips...and come in shiny stainless steel...

now that's a girlie looking gun.

glock on the other hand...all black...squared off...nothing extraneous...all business. definitely not a girlie looking gun.

Default C'mon now

I agree that the pearl handled, nickel plated 1911s are a little ridiculous, but girlie? No.

I tell you what's not girlie about the 1911. US servicemen were taking out Jerries with them years before Gaston Glock was even a glint in his mommy's eye.

Glock makes a great gun, don't get me wrong, but they weren't the first. The first dead reliable and accurate semi-auto pistol design ever made was the 1911. There's nothing girlie about that.

And don't you forget it.

The trigger reach is long, too long for some, me included. So I would try before you buy if possible. And when test driving pick up gun quick. I was fine when I carefully put gun in hand but if I was not careful with my short finger could end up pushing trigger and safety to the side and jamming safety on inside of trigger and glock no go bang for me.

Glock is by no means a girlie gun! It is a no non-sense pick it up and shoot it pistol. There is no knobs, levers, switchs, latches, or buttons to disengage before use. I've used it in combat and it worked extremely well, better than my issued M9 beretta.

I will share your opinion with my wife, but based on my previous conversations with her, I don't think she will be swayed by things like "facts". She's just reacting truthfully and honestly from her perspective. She sees them as girlie in shape and said they "look like toys, not like real guns".

My wife's opinion on the aesthetics of my P229 or P2000SK means little to me, so I hope you are not losing any sleep over her opinion on the Glock's appearance. If she thinks it's girlie-looking, that's her thing. If you think it makes you look like the 2nd coming of Chuck Norris, cool, too. All that really matters is that you shoot it safely and that it's an effective tool for you should you ever need to use it to defend yourself.

Someone asked for opinions on the Glock, and I was sharing my wife's reaction, because I thought it would make people laugh. Personally, I think the Glock is a nice gun, especially for its price.

Understood, Cole. I'm just messing with you, and LittleRedTotoya. That comment was a flat, slow pitch right over the plate

Default Tried the Glocks

But ended up with a Sigma, in my hand feels better, not as wide, same construction overall... 1/2 the price! that was my buying point, every one i had try the sigma ended up saying that would be their buy over the Glock.

Looks can be decieveing. The glock is a serious fighting pistol.

All you have to do is file off those silly fingergrips and you have a man's gun.
