First off it is a Magazine. To answer your question you may want to try the M1911.org site to find your answer unless Lycanthrope sees your post he may have an answer for you.

A "clip" is something like a stripper clip. Or an M1 Garand 8rd clip. They don't lock into the firearm whereas a magazine does. Also clips could be along the lines of the rapid fire cannon slide blocks which hold the rounds together while they are fed into the action. When a clip is fed through the weapon it is generally ejected clearing the way for the insertion of another. Again, magazines lock into the firearm and have to be ejected by an action taken by the operator.

Never realized there was a difference. Then again I live WAY back in the sticks. Hell, we're just happy when the new Sears & Roebuck catalog arrives and makes its way to the outhouse! LOL

Thanks for the education, again, I did NOT know what the difference was!

Start shooting with more knowledgeable shooters, then.

A clip is a piece of metal that simply contains rounds. It has no spring, it has no follower. It is used to load rounds INTO a MAGAZINE contained within the weapon.

A magazine has both a spring and a follower. A clip has neither.
