I have not seen a grip safety on 1 prevent the gun from operating as it's designed to do.

What I don't like about it, is that the grip safety must be depressed for the slide to move.

Some notable trainers have observed that this can complicate 1 handed manipulations of the weapon. If you look around 10-8, you could probably find the exact quotes and who they're from. Could have been else where, but I didn't think so...

I've seen these weapons get handled a lot, and have handled them a good bit myself personally. I have had to re-adjust my grip on the gun before to rack it, multiple times. If you have your hand wrapped around it like you would when you're shooting it...it's not an issue. But if you just kinda drive you hand (in a horse shoe shape) at the beavertail...unless you make a point out of doing so, it's quite feasible to not fully depress the grip safety.

It's not a design I care for, but I've not see one "fail", yet.

Never any issues with mine either.

I had mine colored, and the whole gun had to be taken apart and put back together. Still never an issue even after being "rebuilt".

When my gun was taken apart and put back together according to the spec's in the manual it didn't work and the grip safety didn't work. The man that colored had to call Springfield because the gun wouldn't work. Springfield admitted that the manual was wrong and to reverse the spring. He did that then everything was fine. Faulty manual could result in faulty gun.

No issues.......ever.

I did not think so. Aside from the fact that any mechanical device can break, I would have been surprised if there were any widespread problems. Cathy never had any problems with hers in 700 rds.

Scratching and trying to remember, I recall to "issues" with the XD. you can put the recoil spring in so that it will lock up the slide when you reassemble it. You must hold it with a firm grip or the grip safety will not let you shoot. I think that was intentional. I suppose at some point, someone will invent a "hump" to install on the grip safety so that people can use a loose grip.

I saw a grip safety on a XD 45 "break" at the range and the gun still fired. If I recall something inside the grip failed (spring or a pin??). Maybe DeltaII5 could comment on it, it was his pistol.
