I have a S&W J frame snubbie (642) that shoots about 2 - 2-1/2" to the right of center at about 7 yards. I know this isn't too bad for something with a 2" barrel made for close range, but it bothers me a little. I tried shooting both right and left handed to see if it might be grip related, but with similar results. Or should I quit thinking about it and just get on with life?

Your snubby is not that far off. If it bothers you which it does. Why don't you try and shoot from a bench rest, single action, 5 shots. This will eliminate the possibility that it may be something you are doing wrong. If your shots are still not at point of aim your sights may need some filing.

If it bothers you, use the time honored Colt Single Action Army way of moving the point of impact either bend the front sight or tighten or loosen the barrel a tad bit.
