Default how well do you shoot?

Ok, I am curious to see how good you guys shoot with your favorite handgun. Lets go with your average and best groups for two hands unsupported, one hand unsupported, and then supported. How about your average double-tap groups?

I am curious to see what you guys and your gear are capable of shooting. Please also tell us if you are a LEO, military and etc...

I shoot a Glock 22, and I average about 2.5 to 3 inches at 10 yards unsupported, and about 6 inches at 25 yards. On some sandbags, I can group roughly 4 inches at 25 yards. At 10 yards, my double-taps usually fall within 5 to 6 inches of each other. One handed firing usually lands my shots about 4 inches apart at 10 yards.

I never actually measure the distances of groups best guess 2 inches at 3 yards 5 inches at 7 yards 8 inches at 15 yards. Usually I score 90-100 at 3 yards 85-90 at 7 yards and 80-85 at 15 yards on the slow fire target. Never even tried to double tap but I really never slow fire either. About 1 second or so between shots, never timed it, unfortunately I have a hard time breaking my timing once I get going. I need to slow way down but I usually do better every time I go now so it is really really hard for me to stop, i need to take my own advice though.

Well my current favorite is my Springer, I figure at 25 yards two handed...8 rounds in 2.5" to 3" standard, 8 rounds in 4"-5" rapid.

...well on a good day that is.

I don't even try at 25 yards, I'll get there eventually.

It's a damn good gun, it's an older loaded model that cycles like a kitten licking milk and is the most accurate "non custom" I've ever seen. My cousin has a TRP and my Springer that I paid $450 for shoots just as good if not better. I like it better than my Kimber CDP, and like I said that's on a good day. As long as I stay calm and don't rush my shots I'm ok. Near the end of a long session of range time my groups open up.

You in, or have been in the military?

Son of a cop who was on the pistol team, started shooting at age 5, spent 5 years in the Marines, qualfified expert multiple times with the M16A2, never qualled with the M9 but kept up on my pistol skills over the years. Eventually I would like to attend some formal training in defensive pistol. I can hold my own with a rifle or shotgun but am only intermediate with the pistol, it's easy to shoot paper standing still at 25 yards, it's another thing to hit paper on the move and under stress at 7 to 15 yards.

Not to mention that you can train a little differently in the Armed Forces, your weapon is always in your hands and your spare mags are on your chest...makes things a little easier

Quite a history of shooting. I plan on attending some defensive pistol classes myself. I think that it would do all of use some good. Here at Fort Riley, we have some fairly realistic pistol training with movements, reloading, and pop up targets. Its fun to shoot, but just too easy. They need a lot of people qualified with the m9, therefore the range is too easy. I still am anxiously waiting the return of the .45, or even .40 for that matter, to us. At least they allow our elite forces to have their handgun of choice.

Not quite, they still have to be 9mm or .45 and still need to pass certain tests. So yes they do have a choice, but not a whole lot of them.

Pretty much you have a mixed batch of Sig 9 millimeters for the SEALS, and .1911 .45s for Marine Recon, I'm pretty sure DELTA still carries 1911s, I've got no clue on anybody else.
