Is there any difference between a Beretta 92 fs made in Italy and one made in the US? aside from the price, that is.

I have an Italian 92FS.
When I first bought my Beretta 92FS, I wondered the same thing. At the time a batch from Italy had just came over the pond and amazingly enough my dealer (Scott at Taylor's Trading Post) was nice enough snag one up for me, despite already having the American-made version in stock in his shop. It even cost about $40 less than what he was asking for the American-made version. Really quite amazing. Erm, anywho.... Having asked this same question other forums, I have been told that the finish on the Italian gun is nicer than the American version. Supposedly the Italian's double-action trigger pull is lighter and smoother too. I've also been told that the American version uses slightly nicer steel in the barrel. That being said, having had a chance to examine and shoot both, I can't tell a damn bit of difference between the two. Both have really nice finish, both have a very heavy, long, double-action trigger and both are way more accurate than I'll ever be. |

FWIW....I know a barrel handler at Accokeek (shoot clays with her). The Italian model will not pass the Army Ordnance Dept tests like the originals did (okay, the "second" batch of originals).....the M9's out of Accokeek are specifically made to those specs.....(the last part sounds redundant, if not a bit funny).
Both guns have different finishes. Accokeek guns have a required (by you know how) finish, and different barrel specs. But hey, I listen to her because she is natural blonde, and has a great rack! (okay, she has several great racks.......White Tail, Elk and Sika)

I guess If there is really no discernable difference between the two, I should just get the less expensive one (made in U.S) and spend the balance on ammunition.
