Default [Review] Hi-Point C9 and 40SW-B

I have handled these in the past at a gun store and immediately hated them. I didn't like the top heavy feel and they looked like metal bricks.

A buddy of mine recently acquired a C9 and 40SW-B. They were essentially freebies to him. All he had to do was pay for the FFL transfers. No biggie.

He figured, "Yeah they'll suck but what the heck they were practically free."

He dropped them off for me this past weekend so I could mess with them a bit. I took them to the range today and fired off 100 rounds through each of them. My friend told me he's run more than 1,000 rounds through each already himself.

I was stunned by their performance actually. They both ran perfectly and their accuracy surprised me. The felt recoil for each was less than I've ever experienced for both calibers. I could flat out rapid fire the .40S&W like it was a 9mm and the 9mm was almost like shooting a .22lr.

The thing that amazed me the most though were the triggers. They were both shorter, smoother, lighter and broke nicer than expected. I dare say they were much nicer than those on guns costing a heck of alot more.

My final thoughts on these two pistols....

There is no way I'd ever carry one for personal defense. They are too bulky, heavy and ugly. However... I would and did enjoy shooting them for fun at the range.

Thanks for reading.
