Owned one a number of years ago. It was adequately accurate, though I never did as well with it as I did with the Beretta M92s and Taurus PT99s I mostly shot at the time. Perhaps because it felt like a 2x4 to me. But it did go bang, every time.

I own one, shot the thing when new and not since. I'm mainly a HP Rifle Shooter!

Not terribly accurate like a match gun, but they'll get the job done.
Better yet, they're built like a tank and rarely fail.

id practice shooting paper plates at various distances so when you go for your qualification your already prepared and know what you and the P89 are capable of.

If you can keep all your hits on the bottle (FBI-Q) out to 15 yards....you can throw (I think) all of your shots off the target at 25 yards and still pass....kinda sad if you ask me. Sorry to say it, but a certain brand of ammo isn't gonna make the difference between hitting the bottle and missing it inside of 25 yards. Buy a lot of whatever is on sale, and get in some GOOD practice time. Not just throwing lead downrange, but practicing perfect front sight focus, slow smooth trigger press....be confident with your weapon handling, don't let reloading distract you during the test. If you're struggling with the fundamentals...ie (not shooting 2" 5-shots groups or better at 5 yards)...then I would really recommend this DVD to you. http://www.tacticalresponsegear.com/...3aea83131c2dbd I've recommended it to a few shooters who were struggling with their fundamentals....and all have noticeably improved (almost overnight). It doesn't beat good hands on instruction, but it sure helps. |

I carry a P89 Stainless everyday. Built like a tank and dependable! It will run +P ammo, but I usually just run semi jacketed hollow point for self defense or regular ball for target. Fairly accurate but not like a match/race gun!

I have a P95, same gun, only mine has a polymer frame. The only ammo my gun didn't like was the Blazer FMJ's with the steel cases. Mind you, it never jammed, but accuracy was horrible...
