Default Glock 17 - Should I or Should I not? Question for Glockers...

So I have been propsitioned to buy Glock 17 for $325(prolly little cheaper in the end).

I understand Glock 17 is like the "origial" Glock.
I'm somewhat of Glock hater. I hate the fact there are alot of people buys Glock just because of name "Glock" without actually knowing much, and I hate the fact every movie that include "homie from da hood" have Glock, and I specialy hate the punks from da hood hold those Glock the sideways.

But at the sametime, I understand that Glock are being used by many many police force/military force around the world, and are one of most dependable firearm(as long as you don't use Speer Gold Dot that is), and have no non-sense, function over style idea, which is most important when i consider gun for defence.

So what makes Glock sooo good?

For $325, if you don't buy it, I will. That is a great price. BUY IT!

Glocks are good guns at a great price. I bought my G17 to be a truck beater and found it to be a reliable, accurate, comfortable gun.

I am a little ashamed to say that it is spending a little more time in the holster than my Sig P220 these days.

So what makes Glock sooo good?
1. It is reliable.
2. It is accurate.
3. It is simple to use.
4. It is easy to maintain, field stripping is easy and detail striping can be done with a simple punch and hammer.
5. Extra mags are cheap (I buy them in quanity of 10 for $13.99 each new)
6. They dont need to be accessorized to "run well" or "shoot well".
7. Glock stands behind its product.
8. It is available in an assortment of calibers and sizes.
9. It is competetively priced.
10. IT IS RELIABLE.

Seems self evident to me. Popularity is tied to functionality. The thing with glocks though is that they havent changed much, and other pistols have. So the 1st gen is not worlds different from the current gen 3. I personally find them a bit uncomfortable to shoot, but that is my only complaint aside from price....which is on the high side of reasonable.

I may be one of the few people left in the world who does not own one,.... yet.

So this is a good thread for me to watch, cause I have debated a 17 in the "I need a full size 9mm" line of thinking. Plus those mec-tek (or whatever) carbine adapters look ulta fun, and would also solve my "I need a pistol caliber carbine" thought stream.

Whats that about the gold-dots ?????

Do the 9's have fully supported chambers? Can they run +p+ ok?

even if you don't want it...

buy it and then immediately post it for sale on a few forums for $400. that'll still be a more than fair price, and you'll make a nice little profit in no time.

seriously, $325 is a steal unless there is something seriously wrong with it (which is hard to imagine with a glock).
