Well, I paid deposit.

Its a series 2 Glock 17. Comes with 2 - 17rds mag and 1 - 10rds() magazine, Hogue finger groov thing, it has aftermarket titanium guidrod, with no case.

It appears to be well brokenin, but well taken care of. No night sight.
All that for $325(well, that plus Tax) I guess is excellent deal ya?

I'm not sure whats the defference between all the seieses, but this one don't have rail, which is fine, as I never add lights or anything. But they told me that titanium guidrod really makes defference in turm of accuracy.
I can get nightsight cheap enough, which choice of nightsights are about that of 1911.

I'd pick it up today, but instead, I had to pick these thing up for my niece and nephew.... Frankly, i don't see the big deal of it, but I guess its like god's toy for the kids...

I understand Glock 17 is like the "origial" Glock.
I'm somewhat of Glock hater. I hate the fact there are alot of people buys Glock just because of name "Glock" without actually knowing much, and I hate the fact every movie that include "homie from da hood" have Glock, and I specialy hate the punks from da hood hold those Glock the sideways.

But at the sametime, I understand that Glock are being used by many many police force/military force around the world, and are one of most dependable firearm(as long as you don't use Speer Gold Dot that is), and have no non-sense, function over style idea, which is most important when i consider gun for defence.

So what makes Glock sooo good?
For you my friend to even ask what makes Glocks so good , you need to do alot more research on Glocks. Glocks are the number one choice in most police agencies in this country for starters.

Having a G-17 is kind of like having a bowel movement...everyone should have one at some point. If you don't....something may be wrong with you.

I'm awear of that. I'm also awear that they are dead reliable.

But then so is my M&P.

My question was to ask what makes Glock so much better then similer polymer gun of its class, such as M&P, XD, SR9.

My limited experience with Glock leave me with something to be desidered for trigger feel, which to me is mushy compared to XD or M&P.
Glock's grip to me is odd angled, and much fatter them XD or M&P, which is slim, so that I can put proper grip on it.

I know that glock is reliable gun.
But thats not the only thing makes gun great imo.

I'd really recommend the search button for that one....
It's been hashed out plenty of times, on pretty much every pistol board.

i think this gets to the real point. glocks are rock solid ultra-reliable guns that are great for defensive purposes...but, several other guns have been produced in their wake which are also rock solid ultra-reliable guns that are great for defensive pruposes. so, in large part, it is going to come down to personal preference.

personally, i like the erognomics of glocks. i hate the ergonomics of XDs...prolly 'cause i am used to the ergonomics of glocks and the XD's grip is quite different. i don't have any experience with M&Ps.

i also like the complete lack of external safeties on glocks...though the grip safety of the XD isn't a big deal.

i also like the fact that glocks pretty much just plain do not rust. that tennifer process really, really works. this is important to me as i run 4 or 5 times a week while carrying the gun and get it soaked in sweat (i.e., rust inducing salt) and don't want to have to clean the gun after every run.

early XDs had rust problems, but i think they have gotten those worked out. i don't know how M&Ps do in this regard.

i also like the fact that you can seriously never clean or lube a glock and it will keep going. that may be true of XDs and/or M&Ps also, though.

basically, i love glocks...i really can't think of anything i would change about them...and, therefore, have no reason to switch to something else. but that doesn't mean XDs, M&Ps, etc. aren't just as good.

That test was not a salt spray test. The firearm was left in s salt-soaked wool sock for a week. This was after it had been burried in sand, sirt, rocksalt, vermiculite, bead blasting material, and mud. As you can see from the marks, this gun was also shot at several times.

The end of the story for that torture test was that the G21 still ran, even when dropped out of a plane!

Under normal use and abuse, it would be very difficult to get tenifer-treated steel to rust.
