It seems to me that with the PA State Police switching over to the Glock 37 .45 GAP we wil have several thousand G37s being fired regularly. The recruit firearms training, combined with the familiarization firing of the troops in the field over the next several months, we should have a relatively good test of this report from Winter Haven. You can extrapolate the 2 out 90 stats to a test group of several thousand. If the reports from Winter Haven and other places are accurate we should have dozens of exploding Glocks all over PA.

I'll hold my opinion until I see the results, come next November.

There is a bunch of Glocks out there and has been for 20 years. There is a dept. here and there that seem to have problems but most seem to do just fine with them. With NYSP and PSP going to the G37, we'll see how they work out soon enough.

It just proves that .45 gap is stupid as hell.

Either use .45, or use .40

It seems that things like .45 gap and .357 sig are just ways for government agencies to spend more money on flashy new crap with dubious advantages.

Even if they are a little better, is it worth it for the extra cost?

People just want the newest thing out there. Funny. It seems the .45acp has been blowing people away quite effectively for a hundred years. Why fuck with what works?

I've never understood why they simply don't make them all fully supported (like their .357 Sig. barrels are) -- feed reliability doesn't come from whether or not the chamber is supported.

I mean, hell, the chamber itself is military-loose on all of the Glocks, if you leave that alone and fully support, I'd be shocked if you saw a change in reliability.

The problem of unsupported chambers seems pretty easy to resolve. If you're concerned about it, get an after market barrel for about 120.00. Not only can you put the unsupported chamber out of your mind, you can shoot lead rounds without troubling yourself over that concern. If the additional purchase doesn't sit well with you, don't buy a Glock .40.

As to the .45 GAP, It seems I heard similar debates when the FBI pushed for downsizing the 10mm to what some critics called the .40 "Short & Weak." I don't own a handgun chambered for the .45 GAP. In fact, I've had a love affair with the .45 ACP for nearly a half century. But it does seem to me that for a company as successful as Glock to innovate such a new cartridge, and produce several new models, without exploring the market desirability for such a product, is highly improbable.

Ditto Lycan's comment. You don't play golf with one or two clubs(unless your name is Tiger). In fact, most golfers have more than one set of clubs.
