Default Steyr M40-A1

Has anyone had any dealings with the Steyr M40-A1? I am looking for a .40 that I can take to the range with my Para .38 super. I am eventually going to buy a few more Paras, but at the moment, I'm strapped for $$$$. I know a lot of the polymer framed pistols that tried to follow in the footsteps of glock tend to suck sometimes. Just wondering if that is the case here.

Default Re: Steyr M40-A1

I have the predecessor, the M40.

Accuracy is very good. Grip angle is even more radical than the Glock. Grip is like a single stack gun...very slim. Tennifer finish. Fully supported chamber. The Trap sights are extremely fast to acquire in close, but aren't so hot for me at 20 yards. Trigger goes about 6lbs and is crisp, but not as good as a well set up Glock. SAI has excellent customer service should you need it, but there are little to no aftermarket parts.

How bout the Taurus PT 24/7 in .40 cal.? Which one would be a better gun to take to the range with my Para the Steyr or the Taurus? I just noticed the PT comes factory with heinie straight eight sights.

It's a toss up ....and depends on your preference for grip angle. If I was going to get a Taurus I would get the 24/7 PRO model. It has a better trigger.
