Does anyone know what pistol the Marines use?

I'm pretty sure they're issued an M9.

Why do you want to know?

M9 and M9A1 right now. the MARSOC ( Recon/Force Recon (Special Forces Gurus)) use Kimber and Colt 1911's with a few mods on them.

the government is looking for a new pistol to eplace the M9 with due to it not liking the sand and they want to go to a bit more powerful caliber as well.

no clue on the HK. might be another special forces weapon. they get to use just about anything they want. a platoon/team has a budget for gear and they can purchase weapons with approval.

dot and post on the M9's and 3 dot on the 92FS. that is the ONLY thing that designates an M9 from a 92.

M9 is the general service weapon. Certain units are issued the Kimber 1911 Warrior model. The HK is a weapon available to the navy SEALS...it is moslty seen with a can using sub sonic rounds for close in quiet work.

It used to be easy to state what each military unit was using....but those days seem to be over. I have seen AR rifles from Colt and FN, Handguns ranging from the M9 Beretta to the Kimber to the Sig for certain flight crews and of course the HK for SEALS. M240's, M249's, M60's, MP5's, Mossberg 590's, Benelli M1's, Remington 870's...and the list goes on.... even AR's chambered for 6.8mm.

I remember reading stories of how the govt had problems giving ammo to the Union Army during the Civil War due to the different caliber weapons used at that time. I cant help but wonder if we havent re-lived those times once again.

A standard service rifle and handgun must be adopted soon IMHO.

the restrictions on what they buy are easy to follow. must use a NATO round. then it is in country anyway. the 6.8 is new, but i think it is going to be or already a NATO round...
