Default Best American-Made Semi-auto

I've recently gotten some funds together (and Cabela's points ) to purchase a new semi-auto pistol. I'm looking to get a .45 in a somewhat smaller format to carry. I've owned many guns over the years, but most were foreign made (Sig, Glock, Beretta). Being that the economy is in the crapper, I want to do anything I can to buy American and I'm wondering what your opinions are on the best American-made semi auto?

The Kimbers are good and they have a few nice ones that are commander sized. I own one and it is definitely more accurate than I am.

Yes they are. TRP is awsome.
But they are Brazilian made tho(either that or parts are made in brazil, but assembled in USA. Thats as with all of SA 1911's tho. They are NOT truely 100% american made). Since original poster did say "American Made"...

My choice would be a Kimber, Colt, Wilson combat, Les baer.

You can't go wrong with a Springfield XD Compact in .45. If you like the 1911 style, Springer also makes some decent models of those. The EMP comes in .40 and 9x19.

By the way, the Glocks are made in Georgia, Berrettas are made in Maryland.

Look at the various S&Ws. $50.00 rebate PLUS two free magazines in addition to the ones that come with the gun,
