Are Colt revolvers tough to work on?

I've got this Official Police (I think that's the model) revolver. It's badly holster worn, but very accurate. The serrated trigger is somewhat painful in double action though.

Can I remove the trigger to grind off the serrations without springs and tiny ball bearings flying out?

I've worked on several semi-autos, but never dove into a revolver before.

The serrations can be sanded down, taking down a colt is no more difficult then any other revolver, just remember where things came out, then reverse the procedure to put them back in.

You might look into getting your colt jeweled to bring the pull down a bit, this would be better then removing the trigger serrations. Old colts usually where jeweled and had a beautiful feel to them, since the strike at colt, the revolvers just are not the same. For cost of it, you should probably go see a good smith that will do it for you as well as clean and polish any parts needed inside.
