Retention is an issue. Other than that I think they are best utilized as a casual means to carry while at home.
They also make good *sheeple-flage*. If you have to remove your handgun to enter a prohibited location or area most everyone won't have a clue what it is or what it's for.

Are any of the "belt slide" holsters worth looking into? I have a couple of IWB but haven't found one that was particularly comfortable and a paddle is just too bulky IMHO.

I have settled on kydex OWB for all my needs to include CC, training and range practice sessions. They work for me and I have frankly become weary of searching for *good* holsters. I'm sure there are many out there to include belt slides that would work for me but it's like trying to find a needle in a haystack.
Finding a suitable holster involves personal taste, preferences and your particular physiological build and proportions. The best we can do is offer our experiences that may or may not apply to you. Wish I could be more helpful.

I've got one I use with my SIG P226, and it works okay. I'm just paranoid about catching the muzzle on the arm of a chair while sitting down and having the gun pop out. I've had this happen to me on an occassion two, nothing more embarrassing than to stand up and hear the sound of the pistol hitting the floor. It's a drawback of the design, not the brand.

Thanks for the input Tony and Grizz. You've given me quite a bit to think about.

Just so everyone understands my comment about retention, I did not mean that the handgun cannot be retained by the yaqui design but more so by the level of ones physical activity, especially if accosted by someone who is using less than lethal force to attack you. IOW, a fistfight or brawl.

They are the best OWB holster I've ever worn and I've tried a bunch. His IWB is also simply awesome! And he offers a lifetime warranty - if it ever breaks, send it back and he'll replace it. Jeff is a top notch guy and one of my instructors, to boot. |
