Default How 'bout a CZ 82?

Actually just bought one of these small Czech military autos from Aim Surplus, it arrived today. Seems like a real nice C&R pistol at a very reasonable price. I paid $240 door to door and couldn't be happier. The gun and accessories appear brand new, I don't think its ever been fired!

The guys at Aim were great to deal with, especially after I mentioned this was my first C&R purchase. Shoots the 9X18 Makarov and the ammo seems readily available at about $10 per 50 rounds....now I'm waiting for it to arrive.
What do you think?

You'll learn to love it. I have two and they're like my kids. Truly ambidexterious, the ONLY 13 shot Mak, really comfortable formed grips and a safety that pushes DOWN and not up like most europeans. DA is not bad at all. Only downside is loading that double stack mag. Odd thing is the barrel. Its polygonal, no rifling but accurate as hell.

The CZ-82 is a nice little 9mm. Got mine at a local gun shop for about $250. As a left-hander, I really liked the ambi safety and mag release. It is a well built, accurate weapon. I'm sure you'll fall in love with it in no time. If your looking for another nice C&R, try getting a CZ-52, the older brother of the 82.

It is a rifled barrel, polygonal is the type of rifling. This explains it pretty well.

You're right about the formed grips being comfortable. In my hands, the most comfortable handguns I have are my CZ82s. They seem to fit just about everyone else too. I've let a lot of people shoot mine and have yet to find someone who says it doesn't fit their hand, or that it isn't comfortable. That's not saying that it's the BEST fitting handgun for everyone, but if there is a one size fits all or a universal fit that most people can feel comfortable with, this seems to be it.
There are at least 3 members of PAFOA who have shot one or more of my CZ52s, do any of you want to chime in with your thoughts on how it fits your hand and what you think of the trigger pull?
And yes, it is truly ambidextrous, mag release, safety and grips, (Nice thumb rest on each side). I'm also very pleased with how smooth their triggers are.

If you buy it by the case from Ammoman it figures out to $9.45 per 50 delivered. (Non-reloadable).

AimSurplus had it for about that price, but it looks like they're sold out now.
There are probably other places that are competitively priced, but I don't expect that to last very long.

When I first got my CZ52s I was buying ammo at gun shows for $6.00 - $7.00 per 50. I turned my nose up at a lot of it for $8.00 - $8.50 per 50. Needless to say, if I knew then what I know now, I'd have bought all I could afford at those prices.

I still want one. EVERYTHING I've heard about them has been nothing but good. I was at a gun show last fall in Hbg. Guy had CZ 82's for $240. I had the paperwork half way filled out when I glanced over and saw he also had Walther P1's for the same $ figure. I then compared the price of ammo and ended up getting the P1 instead of the CZ 82. I really wanted that CZ but couldn't justify adding another caliber to my stocks.

I know it's off topic and I would have just sent you a PM, but I know there are others here with CZ52s and they might like to know also. (Or maybe someone knows of another source).

If this warrants a new thread, then so be it.
