Default Burnt Casings

There is a burt mark on only one side of the casing on reloads I recently shot.

At first I thought is was my pistol, but I fired the ammo in three other pistols and still had the burnt mark.

I reloaded with new Remmington brass casings, Speer 200-grain SWC lead bullets, CCI primers, and 4.3 grains of Bullseye powder.

Any idea's ?

Default Re: Burnt Casings

I have experienced this on some rifle reloads and some .45 acp reloads. The answers that I got were that they were probably low powered loads which they were. The case mouths are not being pushed out completely in the chamber allowing carbon and unburned powder deposits to come back along the side of the case.

+1. Low/moderate pressure rounds.

You can get those types of marks from low power rounds or if the casing just doesn't expand as much as it should and lets the gases/powder/etc escape. It could be that the cases are a little thicker or the material is just a bit harder and it doesn't expand completely.

Just reread the OP, 4.3 or Bullseye would be a slightly light load in the acp.
