yeah, the new finish is MELONITE.
Both melonite and tennifer are "salt bath nitrating" , I have no clue what that means, but from my understanding they are the same thing under different trade names. Although Glocks finish does come with a mythical aura

Have had no probs with mine with the melonite, and i dont know anyone that has either.

We shall see, but apparently theyre the same type of material trijicon uses and they will illuminate even with a small amount of light, but we'll see when they get here.

I guess he is referring to Fiber Optic sights? They do gather light well, until total darkness sets in. Once it's pitch black, they are about useless IMO. True night sights are filled with tritium gas. Tritium gas glows on it's own without assisting light, because it is a radioactive compound. Until the last few years, all night sights were the same greenish color.

Now they also have them in a few other colors, as some people like myself, prefer a contrasting difference between the front and rear sights in total darkness. My front dot is green and my rear dots are orange tritium. Regardless, just keep one thing in mind...Night sights are great, but they mean very little if you cannot see the target. They are also only good for one shot in the dark, because after you fire that first shot, you will be some what blind from the muzzle flash.

Yeah, it will be interesting to see how well they light in the dark.

if they aren't sufficient I will just replace the front one with a tritium one.

I'll have to make a night trip to the range and get a target up to see how they do.

Picked up a 40 accessory kit for the subcompact off of kar298 today. Now to try and tweak it to fit the 9mm. Then I'll need two more pearce extensions for the short mags. That will give me two 13 round mags and three 10 round mags with extensions on them. That should give me enough to compete in the IDPA shoots around here. Sure gives me a nice back up when carrying too.

Still looking for a set of Tru Glo TFO's around here. May have to order them.

Im looking for a .40 sc kit if anyone has a a source....

On another note the pearce extension finally were put on today...and theyre fantastic. They make controlling the pistol a lot easier.

I never knew how much i was using my wrist to control my shots before I used these, the control is very much in my hand now.

I'll post pictures once I get the nighties on!
