I have at least 500 rounds through various XD's and other popular polymer handguns, and I have yet to see any of them that would not fail at one point or another. This is not a huge problem. No matter if it was ammo related, magazine related or shooter related, simply clear the malf and keep on keeping on.

The S&W M&P is the only polymer handgun that I have not seen sh*t it's pants on the range. That is almost certainly because my M&P is rather new, and has a very low round count. I will be amazed if it dosen't fail at one point by mid summer. Thats the nature of the beast with auto pistols. When things fail, clear them.

After shooting and looking at the guts of the XD, M&P, Kahr p series, Glock and Taurus poly guns... I have found strong and weak points in all of them.

To me, the only real downside of the XD is NOT design related, it's the fact that S.A. is very strict with keeping replacement parts out of the hands of their customers.

Breaking a $12 part and shipping it back to the factory for $25 shipping then waiting 3-6 weeks for the gun is not a great thing IMHO. Glock and S&W parts are simple and very cheap, and can be sent to your home in a matter of days. This is a major advantage in my opinion.

If this dosent bother you the least bit, I would have no problem shooting and carrying the XD. They are a very good handgun worthy of all the pres they are getting.

Has anyone picked up their Subcompacts yet? If so, what color scheme did you get? I'm really torn, because they have some really neat colors out there to chose from. I have a bi-tone and really like the way it looks. But part of me says to get something different. The green and tan were both cool looking.

Also, what is a Heinie Slant Straight Pro 8 night sight. And is this a really good sight or what?

This comes on limited editions of the Subcompact. Don't really know if they are worth the extra bucks or not. Wanted some others opinions. Check it out here. http://www.pafoa.org/forum/pistols-4...tml#post186967

Heinie Slant Pro Straight Eight night sights are Heinie's "wedge" version or a Novak type rear sight. The straight eight sight picture is very fast and loved by many shooters. One night sight dot on the front, one night sight dot on the rear. Make the figure eight with the dots and roll. Many claim that it's much quicker than a typical 3 dot pattern.

Heinie sights are right up there with Novak, XS Big Dots and Warren Tactical when it comes to quality and number of followers.

Just depends on what sight picture you like best.

Hard to beat Wally World and the Winchester White Box. Even to buy it a box at a time. It is almost cheaper than what you will pay for a case. Let us know what you find. If I have any $$ after buying the pistol, I just may get a case myself.

I am going to call and get a price on the subcompact with the nightsights installed. Only problem with it, they only come on all black ones. I may have to put a set on after I get mine. And that way I can get the color I want. And no.... I still don't know which one I'm getting. Better decide soon. The bonus should be here soon. Suppose to get it in January.

What the..... Just called the gun shop. They can't find the Nite Sight version in the book. He is going to call Springfield and see what is up for me. I will keep everyone posted on what I find out.

They just called me back. They can get me a black one for $559. They want $479 for an all black without the night sights for comparison. I just may have to order mine to get the sights on it since I figure it will cost me a bit more than $100 to buy aftermarket and have them installed.

But.... Do I want an all black one. Then It will be just like what you guys have.....

ALERT ALERT
I just remembered something, (been having senior moments)
bring your books to the shoot, I will have mine.
There is a mistake in the manual with the grip safety.
When I had my sub colored he couldn't put it back together because he followed the "instructions" which were backwards.
He was on the phone with Springfield for over two hours and the tech walked him through the whole process.

Hopefully Springfield has printed new books.
Bring your books to the shoot and we can compare.
This could be very important for disassembly or gunsmith.
