Default Placed an order today for a Taurus 1911 with rail

It should be interesting to see how long it takes to get. The shop I go through called their supplier and backordered one in blue and one in stainless. As of yet though there is no expected delivery date. The supplier said the railed models have yet to come in.

I figure I can wait at least a month or so to see if an expected date develops if not then I may have to switch to a non railed model.

I haven't even gotten it yet and already I figure I'll need to switch away from the ambidexterous safety to a single sided one. Order a set of Crimson Trace grips and a replacement set of Heine Straight Eight night sights. Then I need to decide if I want the Surefire X300 or Insight SSL-1 lights.

The reason I wanted the rail was for the option of skipping the laser grips and getting a tactical light and laser combo. I suppose without the rail the grips alone and a flashlight I'd get the same option for a home defense setup.

I don't plan on trying to carry it with a tactical light on it. I'm a little concerned that most concealed carry holsters might not fit with the light rail on the frame though.

Well my thoughts of waiting a month to see if an expected delivery for a light railed model turned sour. The supplier has a standard stainless steel one in stock so I ordered it instead. It should be in over the weekend or early next week.

I'm going to be putting Crimson Trace grips on it eventually so the rail was somewhat redundant.

Local shop has a blue one with rail for $465.

I thought it was a decent gun for the money.

Cjack,
Congrats on the PT1911. I've found it to be reliable and and acurate. It is my all around go to gun. It has been my daily carry for almost a year and sits beside my bed every night.

Also, the finish is not as bad as I first had thought. Like any normal finished gun, it will show holster wear and the dummy scratch from the slide catch if you are not careful and of course the grip safety and trigger. From what I've seen in photos of other 1911's, this is the norm and is to be expected. I clean it quite a bit and the bluing has not washed away like some might lead you to believe. IMO, it is a great gun for the money.

When you get it, shoot the hell out of it.
