1911 Dan Wesson
Will somebody please convince me to throw out my Glocks?
I hate my Glocks. They work. I can shoot them. I got the trigger down. But - goodness gracious, give me a 1911!
Why do all the large bullets go into the bullseye with the 1911? How come the 1911 doesn't kick? Why does the 1911 hit the bullseye as soon as you see the front sight?
Damn the Saint John Moses Browning. Grrr...

Re: 1911 Dan Wesson
It won't be me.
Last summer I promised Mrs Curmudgeon I would finance the purchase of the 1911 I was shopping for by selling my XD45. I meant well, but here it is almost May and I still have both.
Although I don't own a Glock, I certainly understand the allure and the utility. I think they each fill their own niche, and I will eventually make good on my promise, but I admit I did not anticipate this reluctance the way I should have.
Unless you absolutely have to sell, I say keep the Glocks.
.While many claim to support the right, precious few support the practice.

Re: 1911 Dan Wesson
I have DanWesson CBOB. Perhaps one of best semi custom 1911 for the money. It's tightly fitted, nothing but best aftermarket parts, it has NEVER failed me. It even feeds empties from magazin!
It'll feed anything if it can do that.
I bought my CBOB before the big price jump on their new stuff(I paid $850 new in 08). VBOB, which replaced CBOB, is like $1600. And other then forged frame, I don't see anything that's worth $800 more.
If you want accurate, and dependable 1911, I'd look for TRP - usually few hundreds dollars less, and much easier to find too...
But if your willing, by all means - get DW. You will not be sorryAudemus jura nostra defendere

Re: 1911 Dan Wesson
I've sold all but one of my plastic guns. That one is a sub compact for summer CC.
Your better with the 1911 because the brilliant designer knew it would be around for over 100 yrs!

DON'T DO IT!!!!!!!!!! Don't buy your first 1911. Unless you have a couple of jobs to support the 1911 habit. Seriously,,,, they are addictive.
You have been warned!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!George,
So many guns, so little money.

A Colt Gold Cup Trophy or a SA Loaded are $950 masterpieces that will make you look like a bullseye shooter from way back. DW's are good, but I am bias, besides, I have cut too many bullseyes out at 25yds. with my GCT to want to switch to anything else, save a Wilson Combat, and I can get two GCT's and a Loaded for the same price as one WC. Three for one? Hell yea!

Re: 1911 Dan Wesson
I love my 1911's. They point naturally for me, the slim single stack design and the fact that I can install a shorter trigger to fit my proper finger placement all makes it one of my favorite pistols. I have shot Glocks in various calibers before and they are fine weapons, but the fit and feel of a Glock to my own hands always leaves me wanting something else.
