Default Taking my boss to look at a Keltec PF9...

He does a lot of after hours towing and wants something really small but with a bit of a punch. So we are thinking Keltec PF9 single stack. He is new to handguns also...so it needs to be easy to use and reliable.

Any pointers or suggestions? Also, need ideas for the best concealed carry method to use when crawling under trucks in the middle of nowhere at 2 am in a snow storm!

my opinion? go for the p11 - mush easier to hang on to (especially if you're wearing gloves or your hands are cold), just as easy to conceal, holds more rounds. I have one and love it and those are the reasons I got the p11 over the pf9.

best way to carry it is probably an IWB with a thumb break on it - I have one for my SP101 and I don't think that gun would come out if I fell down the side of a mountain........

The Kel-Tec has one of the worst trigger pulls I have ever seen. It is miserable. Make sure you look at some of the other great guns out there. Especially if he is new to firearms.

To be honest.
Based on ONLY the info you have given, I wouldn't be concerned much with concealment if I felt the need for late night protection.

He's not going to the opera, he's a dude doing a "physical" job, and is seemingly concerned enough about his safety to to want to carry to save his ass while out on his own in the middle of the night.

i like my keltec trigger pull - it feels like a revolver and that's fine with me - a glock 19 isn't a bad choice, but i wouldn't recommend a glock to a beginner.

another one you could check out is a kahr cw9 or p9 if he has the money. or even a revolver like a ruger sp101 .357 snub. personally i still think the keltec is a great gun - i've shot alot of different handguns and I'm big fan of my p11 - it may not be a competition pistol, but it does the job it's intended to do very well........

The main reason for concealment is mainly to keep it from getting banged up. We tow Big Rigs...it is rough and you get dirty! I don't think it would be a good idea to drag your gun through that kind of abuse. He is even thinking of an ankle holster!

first think you should do with a carry weapon is take it outside, and throw in across the driveway. It's gonna get beat up no going around that, you can try but it'll happen eventually.

ankle holster would probably work good for him

If you're looking for a small pocket 9mm, take a look at the Walther PPS, (if you can find one, they're still pretty new) it looks a reeeeeally nice gun. My buddy is gonna try to find one at the Harrisburg Gun show this weekend.

I would say a G17 or G19 in a shoulder holster would work for him. Crawling under things, I would imagine any hip-carry position would result in some discomfort.

+1 on what XD said about scratching up the gun. Tell him to buy a police trade-in. www.summitgunbroker.com has good prices and service.

They are usually low round count with holster wear, but the holster wear is going to happen quickly anyway.
