Any one do work on 1911's?
hey guys - was wondering if anyone here does any work on 1911's? i need to get mine refinished, a new trigger put in, the grip safety replaced, the firing pin spring replaced and a set of sights put on if possible............... any one here do that that type of thing or know someone who does? thanks............

Besides the refinishing you can do the other work yourself. You can get the parts from Midwayusa or Brownells and they are mostly drop in parts

i might do that, but if it's getting refinished, it might be just as easy for the refinisher to do it..............

If I were in your shoes, I'd do everything myself, with the exception of maybe the refinishing.
I installed a Wilson match trigger, sear, beavertail grip safety and hammer in my Colt. It wasn't as hard as I thought and it was extremely satisfying once I was finished knowing I did the job myself and didn't pussy out. Plus I really gained an appreciation for the inner workings of the 1911. The design is really neat, I swear if you're really desperate in a SHTF situation, you could practically tear the thing down using it's own parts as tools. Hooray for Kitchen table gunsmithing!!!
