Default New member with a question on a Walther PPK

I just found this site trying to research Walther PPKs. I have an oppurtunity to buy a pre ban PPK .380 made in the 1960s. Finish is good with two original mags and one after market mag. The seller is offering it to me for $500, is this a good buy or should I consider buying a new one from Smith & Wesson.

Why not just get a new one? Buds has them NIB under $500. last couple listings.

It is a collecter thing. I like old original firearms that have been proven by the test of time. I have an original Colt 1911 made in 1914, the thing shoots just as good as my Glock 21. I also have an Remington Model 11 shotgun that is 90 years old. I can out shoot newer models with this one. Pre Ban means that it was built in Europe instead of the U.S. I would just perfer an German made one if it is worth it.

Well I bought it yesterday. It is a 1965 German Walther PPK with no import marks. There is a couple of blemishes on the finish but nothing serious. I found one in the show exactly like the one I bought but a 1967 make. The guy had a price tag of $1200.00 on it. I think that is a little steep, he said that he would give me 500 for mine, so I know that I didn't get robbed. I shot 3 mags through it and it is one of the nicest shooting guns I have ever picked up.

I have one made in Germany in 1976, but it has the interarms importer info on the slide.
I would not sell it for less than $1,000.00.
It is a great weapon, but kinda valuable for carry these days.
I think you made a great purchase.
