Good Gunsmith in the area

I have a Remington 760 30-06 that has trouble feeding. It almost looks like the barrel needs to be turned slightly so the feed ramp lines up better. After you shoot about 5-10 shots it get harder to pump. I have had a few of these guns and this is the first one I have ever had any trouble with. Any recommendations where to take it?

Is this a repetitive problem? What I'm asking is can you fire the 10 to 15 rounds everytime after the gun is cool?

Have you ever detail stripped the rifle? Have you tried different mags?

It's getting harder to pump AND is not feeding correctly? I doubt it's a barrel problem.

I'm no gunsmith but I've had mine apart and have never heard of this before.

You can feel the bullets just don't feed quite right. I can shoot about 10 shots then it gets harder to pump. It doesn't matter which magazines I use. I've taken down the gun as far as I can. I can't get the barrel off, but I've removed the trigger assembly and cleaned everything. Maybe it's the bullets. I just got some new ones I have to try them out. Every other 760 I've shot it didn't matter what bullets I used.

Reloads or new bullets?

If reloading for a pump gun, you have to resize the whole case. I actually use Small base dies for my 760.

Does the pump action work smoothly without bullets?

use different bullets and see if there is any difference. Cost of a box of shells as opposed to a trip to the gun doctor.

They have a very good gunsmith at the Sunset Range.

I’m going to have them do a trigger job on my S&W9VE. I just tried a Glock they did, set it to about 2 ½ pounds and shortened the pull. I want more like a 4 pound pull and maybe a little shorter pull. Anyway, they did a sweet job.

I agree. I had Tony, the gunsmith at Sunset Hill Range, do a trigger job on my AR and he did an excellent job.

I dropped off my Sigma Friday for a trigger job. It had about 3000 rounds through it and the pull was down to about 9 pounds from about 12 when it was new.

Tony polished the trigger components and shear pin and changed the striker spring. The pull was shortened a bit and probably set around 5 or 6 pounds, but a lot smoother. At first I shot about 6” low at 30’ until I got used to not aiming lower due to the old trigger jerk. He only charged me $40!

Nice Job! I highly recommend Tony for whatever repairs or service you may need.
