I must agree about loaning guns blind, though. Not the best move.

Instead of busting this guys chops, how about this? Tell him to check out gun shops for a used 22. You can find them pretty cheap. I guarantee his GF spends more on shoes than what a used 22 would cost. Just something to think about.

Seriously, look for used or sales at the bigger stores. For example I picked up a nice used bolt .22 for $ 50 (Sears) and a Savage Model 64 from Carbela's for $ 90.
