Why does anyone need a gun at the movies? Think of the children! This is exactly why we need our guns at the movies, at soccer games, at church, anywhere we go - because of the idiots who think they have to shoot at us because they don't like something!

Jahwarrior, I have thought of it many a time, but I really resist those urges. Martin Luther said that you cannot prevent the birds from flying over your head, but you can prevent them from making a nest in your hair. He spoke with regard to sinful thoughts entering one's mind, vs entertaining them to the point of commission. There are plenty of times on the road where I have wished it would be legal to shoot out the tires of idiots who hog the left hand lane, refuse to use their turn signals, and commit other infractions. But then I realize that they would probably spin out and hit me anyway.

I don't generally feel comfortable in the city as I have spent little time in them. The Movie Theater scene from "Gremlins" comes to mind when I read the story. Bunch of careless disrespectful animals.

This BS is exactly why I would carry. You sweep that muzzle in my direction and you are getting shot and bleed in your popcorn. Good movie.

sounds like a certain family needs to stfu when they go to the movies...

but also, that guy's pic is totally unflattering... he looks like the doc pinched his head too hard with the salad tongs when he was coming down the birth canal.

maybe he gots some dain bramage and that's why he was able to justify shooting someone in from of their family for yapping at a movie.

WOW!

Luckily for me most movies I see coming out these days look really really stupid.

The only way my white ass is getting shot in a movie theater is if they're showing Bullitt.

Just heard this from a friend of a friend of a friend..

I can not attest to the truth or validity of this statement but i find it a lot more plausible.

Again, i have no evidence, just the statement..

Code:
I know people that were IN THE THEATRE when this happened
and it went down different than reported in the papers...

Dude asks father and son to shut up.
Father starts talking shit.
Son throws shit at dude.
Dude gets up.
Father and son attacked the dude (some other people got in on it too)
Dude is getting pumelled, people are screaming and leaving the theatre
(although I saw a mugshot - and he didnt take much to the face)
Dude pulls a gun and shoots dad.
Fight stops.
Dude sits down and says

"it was self defense..Im not wrong." and finishes watching movie.

Have you guys been to the movies lately? $10 tickets, $8 popcorn, $6 drinks. If Im dropping $40-60 to sit and watch a two hour flick, you damn well better STFU.

On the properly-prepared note, this is yet another wonderful use for a 80+ lumen defensive light. Eyes that are adjusted to a dark theater hate my 110 lumen luxeon starfire. Not to mention the advantage it holds when SHTF like this in the same dark setting.

Well now that is a completely different story than the one I read. I can say that I have thought it might be nice to shoot the A-hole behind me that won't shut up in the movie theater. Some stereotypes are true I guess.

I also don't see the difference whether or not he had a LTCF or not, if it went down the way the 1st report says it did.

Even based on that statement, it's not a "good shoot". The shooter initiated contact, and (apparently) did not attempt to retreat. The fact that the other guy (apparently) was not armed, and that the shooter initiated and escalated the situation pretty much eliminates the "I couldn't safely retreat" and/or "I was in fear for my life" arguments, which are what you need in order to successfully meet the legal requirements for use of deadly force in public.

Unless he was surrounded by the people beating him up. In that case, it may very well be justified self defense. I don't know whether he originally got up with the intent on moving or leaving, or to "fight back," but it would seem his intentions in said action are paramount to the entire situation, legally speaking.
