Exclamation Going for my LTC in Philadelphia soon, What should a expect???

Hey guys. I am going for my permit in the start of the new year.

I am just wondering What questions they ask. Are there manners good, or are they "know it all former police, that feel you should not get a permit, so there going to give you a hard time, and make the whole interview uncomfortable"

Also, I have my best friend as a ref. but he is only 20 years old, and he moved to Willow grove. Is that ok???

Anything else I should expect???
How long did you have to wait in philly to get your permit?

Thanks guys!!!

I have not gotten my permit in Philly as I was going to move to Bucks County. I have forgotten all the stuff you need to do , last time you needed to go to the facility on Springgarden street and fill out the forms . I forget the kind of ID you need and the form of payment ( cash is verboten as is a personal check) you need a money order if memory serves.

Sorry I could not be more helpful.

Ed

Get the forms, follow the instructions, fill them out.

Here are the forms: http://www.ppdonline.org/pdf/hq/sp4-127-phila.pdf

Your references don't have to live in Philly (although that is preferrable). On the 20 y.o. reference, technically I'd think that would be OK as the age of majority is 18 in PA but if you want to be safe, get someone at least 21. They generally don't contact the references but just seem to be making sure you can find at least two people who don't think you're a serial killer (j/k )

Bring your papers (as indicated in the instructions) and money order to the tracking unit on Spring Garden St. Get there as early as you can if you don't want to wait around forever. You will be interviewed and asked basically the same questions as on the application. My experiences with everyone down there have always been courteous and professional. If all is OK after the interview they will fingerprint you and send you on your way.

Roughly 8 weeks later, you get your notice to go pick up the license. If you don't get the notice after 8 weeks, call or stop by to see if it's ready. There was a point where they didn't seem to bother mailing the notices I guess hoping applicants would just forget about it.

If you have any specific questions or any problems, let me know.

Go there with everything properly filled out. Check the list several times to make sure you got it all right. The staff there are fairly cool as long as you are patient and have all of your ducks in a row. After 45 days pass go down to the office and ask for your permit. They don't seem to mail out approval notices. Also, it seems like they don't call references unless there is a discrepancy.
