What additional law would have prevented this tragedy from happening and notice how the justice system REALLY extremely punished everyone for numerous violations of current existing laws. Yet this tragedy will be used as example to enact more gun laws.

Canton Twp. man placed on probation for gun sale

A Canton Township man was placed on 3 years of probation Monday after pleading guilty to charges stemming from the purchase and sale of a gun used in a fatal shooting in North Franklin Township last year.

Marcus Allen Brown, 20, of 341 Grove Ave., pleaded guilty to sale/transfer of a firearm and receiving stolen property before Washington County Judge John DiSalle. In exchange for his plea, Brown was placed on 3 years of probation and ordered to undergo drug and alcohol evaluation and treatment.

Brown was arrested for first buying the Ruger revolver from an area teen for $120 in August 2005. According to police, the teen had stolen the gun from his mother.

On Jan. 8, 2006, Brown sold the gun to Timothy Kriston of Washington, while the two were in the basement of Kriston's home. The gun was used the same day in the murder of Thomas "Tomcat" Tarr Jr. near the entrance to Woodland Hills Apartments.

Tarr's pickup truck had broken down on Hancock Street. He and two friends pushed the truck to the entrance of the apartments. He encountered Charles Walter Tarr Jr., who was no relation. He reportedly pointed the gun at Thomas Tarr's chest and fired, killing the 24-year-old. Kriston was charged as a co-defendant.

Charles Walter Tarr Jr., who was just two months shy of his 17th birthday at the time, pleaded guilty to third-degree murder in the homicide. He was sentenced to 20 to 40 years in prison.

Kriston, 21, also pleaded guilty to third-degree murder and was sentenced to 15 to 30 years in prison.

All the anti gunner are always screaming about more laws, when you find a article like this keep it, show legislators in the following manor.

One observation is that it is helpful for the uninformed to lay out the actual laws that were broken and not enforced.
For instance,
1. Criminal Conspiracy,
2. Carrying a Gun without a license,
3. 5 year mandatory for the use of a gun in a crime,
4. Illegal transfer of a firearm, etc.

Then add up all of the potential sentences and have them understand the gravity of leniency that now permeates the courts that is outside the rhetoric of the halls of Harrisburg and DC. That usually lights a fire under them even more. This is what needs to be done to legislators show them with real world examples.

We don't need more laws to let the criminal justice system be able just to plea bargin them away to make their jobs easier for a single prosecution.
