Thank you for pointing out what seemed apparent to me as well.

Default This sets quite a dangerous precedent

This sets quite a dangerous precedent if just being accused (not convicted)for anything gets your house raided.
DUI is dangerous and stupid...but hardly violent! I believe that even a DUI conviction is NOT worthy of Confiscation according to the literature they give you when you buy each gun.

Apparently the "ends justify the means" and to Heck with the 4th Amendment!
Maybe they had a warrant (did they?) but any Dem Judge will sign ANYTHING...especially in an Election year.
Worried? You should be! Now when we say..."we're honest citizens not criminals"...they will Profile us and say..."Look at that guy...you probably will be too...you like guns...propensity to violence. We need a psych report, fingerprints, register your guns, qualify, etc"

Nick, never say things like "if they knew" because your inviting them to go check now... then they will know! And if the media finds out, we will all know...
Your phrase makes it sound like you have some thing more "Illegal" then the legal arms the newspaper said this person had. You dont really want the authorities to think that do you?

Default Re: Man Had Guns and Bomb-Making Materials

I agree with you guys on this.. there seems to be no good reason his house got raided. I dont know what the law is regarding the legal carry of a firearm while driving under the influence.. although a search warrent doesnt make ANY sense.

Now on the other hand.. that news report was rather vague and brief. It mentioned that there were reports of a barracaded suicidal man.. Fine.. You can become suicidal and barracade yourself in if you like, but ask yourself.. what would you have to do to make your nieghbors report your activity to the police?

Maybe nothing, maybe they were nosy nieghbors. Maybe they knew he had guns and they didnt like that. Maybe he did something wild and dangerous. Its hard to tell.

I would really like to think that there was good reason to raid his house.. but I would not be surprised if there is not.

Its the world we live in.

At least the judge ordered the police to return the firearms!
