JK, I assume a resignation or recusal of some kind will be necessary.

That would be the best since you couldn't do the Inspector job properly.

There was a really ugly issue with a school board candidate near here who was also an inspector - while she was running for the board. Her opponent filed a complaint and it got lots of press (her husband is the county newspaper editor).

The judge was not amused over the whole case.

I was at the boro building today. The boro is looking into truck scales, AR-15, VASCAR, and new police cars. As mayor in a boro, I would have ran the police department. I talked to the chief about things. I guess I put BUG UP THEIR ASSES.
Why did not these things happen during the last 8 years. I guess better late than never?

Congrats to all of you who are trying to make a difference in your communities. And thank you as well. When in public service you rarely hear anyone say "thank you."

I'm a little jealous. I just looked into what would be required of me to get in the primaries for school board for my region of the school district. But, I just got kicked in the gut. I can't run for political office!

As a Federal employee I am unable to run in a partisan election. The law doesn't state that I can't serve on school board. If a position was open, I could be appointed to it but, could not run for a second term since Federal employees are prohibited from running in partisan elections.

Ain't that an absolute bitch?!!!! I'm willing to spend my time to benefit my community but, it would be illegal for me to do so.

Since school board members typically cross file to maintain impartiality, would you be able to run?

That kinda stinks if you can't. You only need 10 sigs per party to get on the ballot. You never know what might happen in 1.5 years (the next municipal primary).

Amen, brother! And just because you didn't win the election doesn't mean you have to stay away from the chief and the borough building. Keep going to the meetings. Keep asking questions. Keep holding feet to the fire.

The next thing you know, you'll be ready to run for council in the next municipal primary in 1.5 years. Or, if you want the mayor's chair, 4 years.
