Default This one's for greg! and no cuff marks-yet...

Constable story; the constable who we thought last year knew the rules...
(can be read somewhere in the mtnjack thread...)

This year at the polls we know and firmly support one of the guys running for council, the trouble is he isn't "known" as he is relatively new. (so we tried to help. )
(BTW-We are the town where the borough secretary stole 260,000+ through bad checks and credit cards.
And we also have a mayor who signed up for mayors against illegal guns- but that is another thread.)

My point is we really wanted our guy with integrity to win, so Jack spent a good bit of the afternoon and I met him after work to help garner support.

After a bit Jack and I headed in to vote together.
We go in the first door and as I begin to turn right, the constable comes over straight to Jack.
The constable says to Jack, "Put it in the car."
We both say "huh?"
C: "the gun- I saw it earlier, I didnt see it last time(nov last year..), but I saw it earlier and I saw the article in the paper."
Jack: "I am allowed to carry it here, if I wasn't I wouldn't"
C: "No I am the only one allowed to carry here. Not even police are allowed to carry here. Just me."
Jan: "What section of what law are you citing?"
jack and c look at me
Jan: "The police are not allowed to carry here, but you cannnot disarm a citizen. This was already contested and won- I think it was in York."
Jan to jack "give him a flier..."
Jack: "Here are the Pa gun laws. I am doing nothing wrong."
We head in to vote.
C heads to phone.

When we come out, Jack heads over to check in with C;
and C said he called the corthouse and we are right.
Later they (jack and C and anyone else)are all about gun talk...

and jan talks with the mayor of Industry... on another thread

jack.. feel free to correct me!

Not completely accurate. Anyone (including the police and military) can carry at the polls, provided they are at their own polling place and in the act of casting their own vote, or if the police are responding to a legitimate "incident" going on there. What is prohibited is for them to be "stationed" at the polls...as in just hanging out. That's where possible intimidation issues come into play.

Great job standing your ground guys!

Very similar to my incident last year. Except I was not allowed in until constable made his calls. THen, after being given wrong info by the election board, that it was up to him if I could go in or not, he found out who I was. Then, it was "no problem". Sometimes your reputation preceding you is a good thing I guess... Anyway, glad to see that in your case the phone call yielded correct info. Progress .
