Here are two more bills by the anti-gunners from Philadelphia.

Thank you for posting this!

I think, for those of you who know this, that this is about gun control, NOT revenue generation. Philadelphia can't even spend the (very high) taxes its generates now correctly. Why do they need more money?

This is a very dangerous bill!

2% doesn't sound like much, but look what they do with cigaret taxes annually.
Please call your representative and ensure this bill goes NO WHERE!

It's NOT the money....don't even think that. It's the same as smoking...the legislature is trying to tax gun ownership out of existence.

So the real question becomes will this ban all of the online ordering of ammunition to the state of PA? Since the people who would ship it would have to pay the 2% tax and probably wouldn't really feel like the hassle just like the other states that cant have ammo shipped to them.

Very very bad...

Buy enough in quantity and it could be official tax evasion, no?

Presently you don't pay the 6% regular Pa sales tax on out of state ammo purchases. So if we can avoid the present 6% tax why would adding an extra 2% change the situation. It could in fact increase out of State purchases. At present postage is probably more than the 6% tax so we basically chose between local purchase and out of State on price per round. If tax became 8% total the out of State people may have an increased competitive advantage.

Good point, but I'm sure you're aware there are a number of states that want to tax internet purchases. So far, that movement has not been successful. That won't necessarily stay that way...especially after the next election.

But we want to prevent ammo and firearms from being taxed the way cigarets are (so called "sin tax").

Taxes are to pay for governmental services. They should not be used for social engineering, which is what this bill is attempting to do.

Besides trying to hit gun owners in the pocketbook, I find it ironic that they fear guns so much, yet want the state to profit from the sales of guns and ammo. Yet another example of a bad Bill aimed at law-abiding gun owners. I'm fairly positive that not too many inner-city criminals pay sales tax on the guns and ammo they purchase.......
