In my opinion, anyone can marry anyone they want, regardless of age, race, sex, etc. Anyone can practice any religion they want. If a person's particular sexual orientation, marriage, lifestyle, and so on is acceptable to that person's belief system, then netiher I, nor the State, have any business critizing or condemning it. Our Founding Fathers seperated Church and State so that people can practice their religion, and any related lifestyles, traditions, etc., without fear of state persecution. What I'm saying is that people are imperfect, and because Americans of the past were predominantly Judeo-Christian, they wrongfully integrated some elements of their religion into government. Despite this integration (some of it being ruled Unconsititutional), and despite the feelings of some even in today's society, seperation of Church and State is still valid and should be respected. It is no less valid today than it was when the Founding Fathers instituted it. I in NO WAY endorse an "official" or "state sponsored" religion, or governments which institute them. I hope this clarifies my comments. Last edited by ChamberedRound; September 20th, 2006 at 12:52 PM. |
