IIRC, the MT version required the entire firearm to be manufactured in the state, including all parts. The reason is that if any part of the firearm was manufactured elsewhere, it would come under the interstate commerce act.... look that up..

Wow ... never thought that this would come up here. Seems like we have a lot of good pro gun bill coming up. We just have to work on getting signed into law.

So when contacting our Reps, what is the best way to reference this since it doesn't have a bill number?

Has anyone contacted them to inform them of this bill? Might be a good idea.

I called Rep Rohrer office and asked your specfic question headcase which I already knew the answer, but it never hurts to ask. They don't list names or share co sponsor name list prior to printing and assigning of the bill number.

Typically they won't even give you a co sponsor count either, sometimes it pays to know staffers and Rep Rohrer has an excellent staff as does lots of other Rep that actually support our rights, hire like minded people that support our freedoms.

Make a note of this in your letters asking your Rep for co sponsorship.

the bill is called the

FIREARM FREEDOM ACT

Rep Rohrer was working with Kim Stolfer and Others on the actaul language for this bill based on the Montana version sign into law that firearms stamped with "made in PA" don't have to deal with the feds with certain limations on staying in state. Wait for the bills actual language, but I think everyone will not be disappointed as this is a step in moving PA in the right direction.

I have a question. I read somewhere that the MT law says that the gun has to stay in the state even if the owner moves. Once it's bought by a resident doesn't it become private property?

It's no longer commerce as the product belongs to the citizen isn't it?
