Default Response on "No AWB" finally from Sen. Casey

Dear Mr. OvadekP:

Thank you for taking the time to contact me about the assault weapons ban. I appreciate hearing from all Pennsylvanians about the issues that matter most to them.

In 1994, as part of the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act, Congress banned the possession, transfer or further domestic manufacture of certain semiautomatic assault weapons for 10 years. Attorney General Eric Holder recently indicated that President Obama may move to reinstate this ban on assault weapons, though recent comments from the White House indicate that the President is unlikely to take action in the near future.

As you may know, I support the Second Amendment and will continue to uphold the rights of law-abiding citizens to own firearms. I also believe we must fully enforce existing gun laws and help local governments put more law enforcement officers on the street. I will fight to give law enforcement more resources to find criminals with guns, to find gun dealers who violate existing laws and to increase gun law prosecutions.

Currently, there is no pending legislation to reinstate the assault weapons ban. Please be assured that I will continue to monitor this issue in the coming months and will keep your views in mind.

Again, thank you for sharing your thoughts with me. Please do not hesitate to contact me in the future about this or any other matter of importance to you.

If you have access to the Internet, I encourage you to visit my web site, http://casey.senate.gov. I invite you to use this online office as a comprehensive resource to stay up-to-date on my work in Washington, request assistance from my office or share with me your thoughts on the issues that matter most to you and to Pennsylvania.

Sincerely,
Bob Casey

It is the ever present, "Be assured, I will keep your views in mind", line that is in every canned correspondence from any government official, always followed by, "Sincerely,". That really should be enough to publicly cane them when they vote against what you talked about. I would love to see one of these people actually write back that they don't see it from your POV and that although they appreciate your position and taking the time to contact them, they will vote their own conscience. Honesty is the best policy....

I also wrote him 2 months ago asking him to denounce Eric Holders comments. I got the same non-response a few days ago.

Fucking pussy.
