My state level senator James Rhoades wrote back to me thank me for my concern and to tell me that he opposes gun control in general.

A good example was a local gun shop had sold several handguns to an individual who then in turn took them to Philly and sold them on the street. The original purchaser cleared all NICS checks. But in the end it was the dealer's insurance company who paid for the court when a person was shot in philly with one of the guns.

The NICS background system failed in this instance. So to increase the penalties for such transactions isn't all that bad, and perhaps a step in the right direction.
