Question Private firearm sale ?'s

What are the laws in PA concerning the private (no ffl transfers) sales of firearms. Are there any differences in long guns and handguns? Do both parties need to sign anything or take information? Anything else that I should be aware of?
Thanks for your input.

Long-arms do not require paperwork or transfer through an FFL.

Handguns require transfer through and FFL.

So NO PICS is required for a long gun sale? When I bought my AR15 that I am selling they did a PICS at the Gun Show (or at least charged me for it). So I can sell to to my buddy without anything done for a PICS or an FFL?

Private transfers of long arms don't require a PICS background check. FFL to individual transfer of longs do.

All handgun transfers, whether private or from an FFL, require a background check.

Did you buy the AR15 from a dealer? Dealers always have to do a PICS.

If you want to sell your friend a rifle then.... he hands you money.... you hand him gun... done

If you want to sell your friend a handgun... you have to find an FFL and transfer it through there and they will run a PICS on your friend.

I thought anything that would be classified as a assault weapon needed to be done threw ffl.??
Shot guns and your quote unquote hunting rifle was ok with no ffl.

Question Re: Private firearm sale ?'s

Hey if you have a firearms permit why do you need a PICS or NICS check? That should be one of the other advantages of having your Concealed Carry Permit. For instance if someone had to have his/her Civil Rights restored to receive a permit from some Juvenile or young adult offense when they go to purchase a weapon they wont get qualified even with a weapons permit in hand. I worked for the Federal Gov't for a few years they don't respect local and State laws. They see an offense on their Computer and any State expungements or Sherriff pardons are not exceptable.

WE all as gun owners need to stop using the term assault weapon. I could assault you with a "hunting" shotgun as well as my AR or AK. As far as I am concerned they are all firearms. Mine are all "SPORTING" because shooting at a range is a sport. period.
