Rockview/Spring Creek Property Transfer Vote Scheduled for Monday


URGENT!

Emails to the House State Government Committee Needed NOW....even if you've already sent one previously, the committee will be voting on Monday, June 9th.

Rockview Prison / Spring Creek Property:

The House State Government Committee will be meeting June 9th to vote on SB 740, and Rep. Hanna has filed an amendment to it that will give the land to Penn State, Benner Twp., and PFBC. PSU is using their grassroots alert system to get PSU supporters to send letters to the committee in support of the Hanna amendment, claiming they need it for agriculture research and how they will be good stewards of this land.

Rep. Benninghoff is filing an amendment to the bill that will allow the land to go to the PGC and PFBC, with an MOU to PSU for agriculture research where appropriate; and an MOU to Benner Twp. to allow for the "passive recreation" park that they want. We know the PGC & PFBC are good stewards of our lands and will keep it open for use by all citizens, but PSU's record is questionable.

This is not just about finding replacement lands for the Compartment C lands on SGL 176 that PSU misused, but it IS about protecting the Spring Creek Canyon and the pristine land and stream.

Please send an email to the House State Government Committee members opposing Hanna's amendment and supporting Benninghoff's amendment.
