This was the one that got me.

The current meaningless background check in Pennsylvania, along with the state's no-license requirement, allows unsavory characters to buy handguns
Well if it is so meaningless why don't the state politicians just abolish the requirement to buy a gun.

Obviously he doesn't understand the PICS/NICS system. It would work IF criminals attempted to buy handguns from gun stores, but since they DON'T do that, rather they obtain them in illegal ways attempting to regulate firearms is plain stupid. Gun control is not about violence or guns, its about CONTROL!!!

Since the title of this thread is "pursue reasonable gun laws" I thought I would add this, we have one, its called the 2nd amendment and it states:

"A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state; the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed"

THATS THE ONLY REASONABLE GUN LAW!!!

Well it was April 28 till this "reasonable" gun law concept was introduced in PA.

Read it here SB 1379.

ROFL. Yes it can be argued that needing a license to own a handgun is unreasonable. I can most certainly go and buy a car without a license and let my 10 year old kid drive around in it on my property. Hell my kid could buy one if he had the money. Sure a license is required to drive the car on public roadways. This is not a valid argument for ownership. Carrying... maybe.. but not ownership.

I laughed when i read the part about a handgun being "a far more dangerous instrument" than an automobile. How ridiculous.

+1 very good point... the western pa represenatives will defeat it. it would totally f up gun shows if you needed a liscense for every firearm purchased. I went to the allentown show looking at a SW MP and i ended up buying two because i saw a good deal on a snubnose 38.

I mean to own a criminal record check and registering it to someone's name should be enough... to carry a liscense should be required. I would have no quarrel with having a written test or a practical for a carry liscense. That would just make sure that everyone knows about the safety just like an automobile. I won't carry my firearms until i take a class or two at the local range. That's just so I know i'm doing everything safely and responsibly, so I don't unconsiously do anything in violation just like how i took drivers ed to practice for my written and practical tests for my dl.
