§ 221-3. Availability and use of recreation areas.

Every recreation area shall be made available for the use of any individual under the terms of this chapter and of rules and regulations of the Borough Council and under the direction of individuals appointed as supervisors of the specific recreation areas and for the use of any group that shall have made application and received written approval from the office of the Borough Manager or the Director of Recreation upon such terms, conditions and regulations prescribed in this chapter or established by the Borough Council.

§ 221-4. Prohibited acts.

It shall be unlawful for any person, while in any recreation area or other property owned or supervised by the Borough or using any facility thereof, to do or cause to be done or performed any of the following acts or deeds:

E. To hunt or to possess within any recreation area any firearms, air gun or bow and arrow unless such area has been set aside for such purpose and then only according to special regulations for such particular area.

For your information. the County Commissioners acted upon the parks ordinance favoring the recommendations which were identified in your letter of June 22.

No person, except those authorized by Allegheny Township or conducting official Township business in any and all parks and trails owned or leased by Allegheny Township, shall:

A. Hunting, trapping and firearms. Hunt, trap, carry, bring into and/or discharge any type of gun, pistol, revolver, air gun, bow and arrow, slingshot or any other weapon in any Allegheny Township park or trail except in those specified areas designated for such purpose, nor shall any person shoot into any park or county- or state-owned properties from beyond its boundaries.

It shall be unlawful for any person on Borough property hereof to:

Possess, discharge or otherwise use any type of handgun, firearm, knife, bow and arrow, slingshot, BB gun or any other dangerous instrument that is capable of inflicting physical harm to another unless said weapon is permitted or lawfully possessed and is properly secured and locked in a motor vehicle in the Borough parks. The carrying of such weapon in the Borough parks is expressly prohibited, with the exception of the following:

No person in a park shall:

B. Hunting and firearms. Hunt, trap or pursue wildlife at any time. No person shall use, carry or possess firearms of any description or air rifles, spring guns, bows and arrows, slings or any other forms of weapons potentially inimical to wildlife and dangerous to human safety or any instrument that can be loaded with and fire blank cartridges or any kind of trapping device. Shooting into park areas from beyond park boundaries is forbidden.
