I am new to OC. Am I permitted to carry in the borough building? I was meaning to ask. I assumed yes as it is a public building.

As Borough Council President, I OCed at all council meetings. It's legal to OC everywhere except those places where it's illegal, and a "public" building isn't one of those places (whereas a K-12 school or court facility is).

If you choose not to carry, or at least not carry openly, we'll all understand. First you have to know the law, then you have to be comfortable doing it. If you won't feel comfortable, then don't.

The article clearly spells it out in no uncertain terms that the State has the authority to create firearm legislation, and the ONLY thing that the township can really do is ban discharge (and in parks thats already coved - according to the article)... anything else is a hot potato that could be costly.

Y'all might want to reefer to that article in the Sept 2009 copy of Township News - pg28 and suggest that the supervisors actually read it.

As I dont have permissions (yet) to post the content, Id rather not get into hot water for violating copyright laws.... although Ive already sought permission form the publisher to post this article (well see how that goes).
So, I tried and the following is what the publishers response is...

This is to respectfullly decline your request to reprint the Pa. Township News article on gun control. Our practice is to avoid allowing the use of Township News materials in a context that we have insufficient knowledge of or control over.

We regret being unable to help you in this matter but trust you will acknowledge the necessity for this decision. Thank you for your interest.

Good work guys. As yuppie left-wing as Uwclan is becoming (along with all the other Main Line towns), I would've thought that they would've thrown up every barrier they could find.

Although I do not live in Westmoreland County, I see that it appears they are in violation, as stated on the park rules website (my bold below):

Quote:
No person except those authorized by Westmoreland County or conducting official County business, shall, on any County owned property:

<snip>

Hunt, trap, cart, bring into, and/or discharge any type of gun, pistol, revolver, air gun, bow and arrow, slingshot, or any other weapon except in those specific areas designated for such purposes.
