Default Attaching Laser/Light Switches

Does anyone have good tips on mounting the momentary contact switches for laser and flashlights? I tried electrical tape. (put it on a little to secure, while inside the Pelican case laser turned on and killed the battery) Now I have them mounted with a Velcro band around he barrel and stock, but its sloppy.

Default Re: Attaching Laser/Light Switches

I looked all over the internet and asked around found no definitive answer. some use rubber bands of some sort and some switches come with a mounting tape.

I am going to use 3M double sided tape you can buy at WalMart. start out with the light weight type and move up to the heavy duty if that doesn't work.

I have a removable slot in my tactical foregrip for the switch so just a matter of holding it in the slot on my AR.

You may also try a little bit of a clear silicon caulk. It will secure it and can be taken off if needed. Just squirt a little glob on the back of the switch and then secure it where you want it to be until it cures.

Cool Re: Attaching Laser/Light Switches

my side mount for my tactical light on the AR put the end of the light (when mounted toward the end of my quad rails)

It put the on/off button on the end right where I could hit it with my thumb from either my forward grip or the when holding onto the rail covers. So I decided not to use the light switch.

after reading on some tactical website that the recommendation was to not use a light switch as the wire and pressure switch is one point of failure.. i have decided to go this route. It is easier not to worry about snagging the wire or breaking it when sitting the AR down on a gun rack, ect

Is it on an AR?

If so, Tango Down makes rail covers that incorperate a place to hold tape switches right on the panel. I have a tape swith for a light on the rail cover, and it works very very well.
