Default EOTech question

So I'm looking at getting a EO Tech for my AR. I haven't researched them too much as far as different models and what not. I just stopped by Ace Sporting Goods and they had two on the self. Neither had model numbers on them but they both had the "LE and Mil" disclaimer them. One was around $440 and the other was around $470. I know the cheaper of the two used AA batteries but no where on them where model numbers. If you follow this LINK there is a picture with 5 of them. The $470 looked like the one in the front positioned long ways, the other one looked like the one to the right of the FDE one.

Any idea which ones that I was looking at? Any recommendations on which models to look into?

What kind of batteries do you want to use? If you have a light on your AR it makes sense to match types.

Do you want it to be night vision compatible? NV costs a little more.

Decide on those two things and you pretty much narrowed it down to one model.

I don't need NV ... would be nice but definitely not worried about it.

Batteries ... no light yet, but planning on adding one. So that would be a factor.

Most tactical lights use CR123 batteries. There are a few non night vision EOTechs that take 123s:

516 - 2x 123 batteries, 1000 hour battery life. Control buttons on left side (more room for back up sight behind it). Slightly raised mount (lower 1/3 co witness with back up sights)

XPS2 - 1x123 battery, 500 hours battery life. Very short and light so it takes up less rail space, but at the expense of battery life. It just came out, and I think you can get it with a few different reticle options.

The night vision models have product numbers like 55X. The 51X are non night vision.

I got my EOTech directly from GG&G. They have some package deals on a few models that include lens covers (which I was going to get anyways) and a very tight quick disconnect (which I wasn't real concerned about) for only a few bucks more than most other sites were selling them for. Everything came installed which saved me having to take the aluminum protector dealie off of my brand new EOTech.

I have read that with the 512 (the one I got which uses AAs), you can use night vision with them. With mine, the lowest settings are barely visible in the dark, so I imagine with night vision it will just be sort of bright at those settings.

As for the models you saw, I couldn't really say which they were. Different places charge different prices. I do think that they all have the law enforcement/military label on them, though.

Like the others said, choose based on the feature set you want:
Type of batteries, NV compatibility, etc.

Don't get me wrong, I love Ace. But last time I checked, you could find these sights cheaper elsewhere. Ace has good prices on a lot of their stuff, but I don't think EOTech sights was one of them last time I checked. (but I could be wrong)
