I would seriously consider an Aimpoint H1.

I am a die hard eotech fan but i have been less than happy lately with very short battery life and battery drain even when it is turned off. I love the reticule - it is perfect but i'm thinking about switching out my eotechs for aimpoints because if the eotech doesn't turn on when you need it it isn't too good.

Look at this web site. They have the H1 with a mount for $542. That's a great price with the mount.

I am planning on getting either an H1 or T1 for my M92 when it's done getting built. I figured that I would give an EO Tech a try.

hope you had a chance to see the different models at the group shoot.

the short one i have has the battery across instead of inline. supposed to fix the battery issues and a new simplier battery cap.

I picked it because the tactical light I have uses CR123 batteries as well.

see the EO TECH XPS thread for pics of the reticle with the 2 dots. I like the 2 dot layout after having it out and shooting it. now to just get to a long enough rifle range to fine tune the sighting. figure the center dot for close range (home protection) maybe 50 yards out and the lower dot see where it falls.

I got a 557 with 3x fts magnifier. It cost me 900 bucks at the time, but it's been fantastic (it does take a huge chunk of real estate on my rails tho). A comparable aimpoint with mount was around 600 w/o the magnifier. So the choice was clear for me, but some people swear by their aimpoints and 50k/80k hrs of battery life. The rets are personal preference, imo.

I have both an Eotech and a Aimpoint Micro T1.
I keep the Aimpoint on my defense/competition rifle.
I use the Eotech on my loaner AR for Appleseed shoots.

1 - Eotech has weaver base & 1 retaining screw = can work loose and change zero = ruin your day - Aimpoint locks into the Picatinny rail
2 - battery life - I just leave the Aimpoint on 24/7 - about 50K hours of life - I just change it once a year
3 - Eotech has auto-off feature to save battery life - very annoying when the optic turns off in the middle engaging a target
4 - failed optic (see above) - the Eotech makes you use the middle of the optic with the front sight - you can get good hits out to about 25 yards. The Aimpoint lets you use bottom third of optic and more than doubles the effective distance.

#1 and #4 really depend on the mount for the EOTech/aimpoint. You can get throw levers or screw mounts for either, and with absolute or lower 1/3rd cowittness.

For better or worse Aimpoint's don't come with mounts.

I got my aimpoint from Larue with an integral Larue mount :-)

Thanks for the info on the Eotech mount - I should have considered that when I got mine.
