Default EOTech XPS Series, any reviews, comments?

Looks like they are making a smaller/lighter version of the 5xx series. Anyone have any reports?

Have had one for over a month now - been to the range 3 times and shot about 500 rounds. What do you want to know?

Good Morning,

Guess it wasn't a PM. DOH!!
Do you think the XPS is better overall than the 511 (or 551)? I thought that the XPS was smaller from looking at pictures, but the sizes are very similar.

XPS 3.75"x2.4"x2.4"
511 4"x1.8"x2.25"

I found a 511 Rev.F made 05/09 for $320 new and an XPS (w/o NV) for $409 new. I'm actually more inclined to buy the 511 because of the XPS being 2.4" wide, but I'd like to hear from someone that owns both.

Thanks for your time,

Matt

So far, there is no comparison. I own a 551 and an xps. Go with the xps. The 511 / 551 series uses N cell batteries that are known to drain even when the unit is off. The xps model uses cr123 batteries, the same batteries that your surefire and others flash lights use. Plus the xps has a longer battery life.

Question Re: EOTech XPS Series, any reviews, comments?

do they offer the XPS series bundled with the magnifiers? with the XPS do I need to upgrade the mount? or are the new mounts improved and no longer an issue?

model 512, about the same size as the 511 but uses the two AA batteries.

I am wondering what you are trying to point out here?

Yes, there is a 512 AA model and yes it is claimed that it will run longer than an N cell eotech but the 512 model is larger than the 511/551 series and it is substantially larger than an xps.

So, what are you trying to say?

Well folks, thought i'd update my experience with my xps - and it aint looking so good.

The optic is a nice unit and holds zero and all - however, mine only went about 18-20 hours before the battery took a shit. And here i thought this model with the cr123 battery was suppose to have a longer battery life. Hell, my N cell lasts longer than that.

I put a new battery in it and will be keeping track of how many hours are on it. Maybe the factory supplied battery was faulty - yeah right.

This was my last ditch effort to keep buying into eotechs. I like the circle dot set up on the eotechs (a lot) but if this new battery dies again - i'm switching out all my eotechs to aimpoints. The aimpoints never die even when you leave them on for days / weeks / months at a time. I'm having a hard time anymore trusting eotechs to be there when i need them most.

I have yet to see the reticle that has the 2 - 1 MOA dots with the circle.

I wonder if it is too busy and not practicle? if anyone has one any way you can please please please post a picture of the reticle?

thanks!

I believe he was adding to your commentary on what batteries different EOTech models use. God forbid someone add to what you said.
