Default Best Cheap-o rimfire scope

Looking to pick up a scope for a .22, just wondering if anyone has any comments on those in the sub $40 range. I realize you get what you pay for, but I'm also currently on a tight budget.

Looking to do plinking/target shooting - where we usually shoot is roughly 65 yards.

I have some buddies that just picked up BSA 4x32s at Wally world for $25ish, and I got to use them. They seemed pretty nice, but I wanted to see what my options are before "joining the club." It looks like Bushnell 4x32, Simmons 22mag 4x32, Barska Plinker, or the BSA. Thoughts on which would be the best bet? Other budget-consious suggestions? Anyone got something used to sell?

Thanks!

I think I bought an el cheapo bushnell at walmart for something like 25-30 and it is an adjustable zoom, can't remember offhand what it is now, but i love it on my marlin model 60. Cheap and works great.

I've got a BSA 6-18X40 on my 10/22. It's an OK scope but it lost it's zero when I banged it around too many times.

They're fine for a plinkin scope but be careful with them. They won't be able to take the abuse that a higher dollar scope will.

I have used the bushnell 4-12 power scope from wallyworld. I think I paid $69.00 for them. I have not had any issues with them.

I had a simmons on a 22 once. I took it off and replaced it with the bushnell. I did not like the clarity of the simmons. The bushnell scope was also brighter than the simmons.

I bought a NIB Bushnell Rimfire series 3-9x32 on eBay for $15.50. I'm guessing it retails for near or under $40. I bought it to replace a BSA that never quite seemed clear enough and was real fussy about eye relief distance. I think it's a great scope, and it has really helped the kids aquire their targets a lot quicker without having to move their heads around to find the sweet spot for eye relief.

I got a Tasco 3-9 x 40 from walmart for $35 or so. It does well on my 10/22 and am considering picking one up for my .22mag.

Not the best in the world of course, but for what I use them for (50-100yd plinking) it works just fine.

FWIW I picked up a Bushnell 4x30. The cross hairs are a little on the thin/faint side, but will let you know my thoughts after taking her to the field.
Thanks for your input.

IMHO, you can't go wrong with Bushnell. Looking forward to the field report.

I'm happy with it. After getting it sighted in things worked as well as to be expected - in other words, it's as acurate as I'll ever be plinking off-hand.

In retrospect, I probably should have gotten the 3-9 x 32 instead of the 4x32 so I could see my groupings from the bench! Lesson learned.

Thanks again for all your input.
