what are you mounting it on, and what will your targets be?

91xlt - mounted on a SAKO 6.5X55. Targets will be groundhogs and paper targets almost exclusively for this rifle. (the OTHER SAKO is a deer rifle)

You would be better off not trading the Leupold for the Burris.
The Leupold is a more expensive scope and claimed to be more accurate. Most compeditive shooters use a Leupold. You wouldn't trade a Ford Mustang for a Escort. |

Actually, most of my research shows this Burris to me more expensive than my Leupold.

Burris is hardly an escort!

Burris makes some pretty good scopes indeed. Although his is a VX-III, it doesn't have near the magnification that that particular burris scope has. Most of the stuff I have read comparing burris and leupold scopes says that even the VX-II has slightly better glass than alot of the burris scopes. So I would think that you're gonna have some more clarity in the Leupold, although you won't have the magnification you do in the burris. I personally don't like many scopes that go over 24x, most of them tend to get pretty blurry, and the glass just isn't quite as nice as some of the lower power, higher end scopes. I think that in terms of price, these scopes are gonna end up pretty close. For the intended uses, I might stick with the Leupold, but part of that is personal preference, and how close you like to see the targets. What kind of ranges are we talking about you shooting? Also what kind of reticles does each of these scopes have?

You should get some money for the trade too. A Leupold VXIII for a Burris even up is not a deal. The Leupold does have less magnification, but, the leupold VXIII has better glass The Burris is not as bright and will give distortion at the higher magnifications.
Just my opinion from years of experience with all makes of scopes. the Leupold is the best buy for the money. Jeff |

Here's an example: http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/te...equestid=15565 I do appreciate your input. I certainly am keeping the Leupold on my other rifle. It is a honey, a Finnlight 6.5 X 55 with a Leupold VX-II Ultralight 3X9X33.

Burris and leupold may be close model for model, but the customer service and resale on a Leupold is much better.
One way to find out what you perfer is to take both of them out in the field and use them for a day or two. I have. Think you will find the Leupold brighter and clearer. Jeff |
