I read on Guns & Ammo that this is the second coming.. or something like that..

also, in the same issue, this optic had several full page ads within the magazine, so I dont thinkt he review was very objective.

You cannot even compare a VX-1 to any Swarovski Optic. The higher end Leupolds are great, but the low end VX stuff you find at WM isn't that good. The VX line would be comparable to your Simmons or Bushnell.

How much are you willing to spend on optics, then go from there.

Cannot put an ARD on it, not so good. I like their Mark 4 series better. Then again, what are you using it for and how much are you willing to spend?

VX-1s do not run $800, so if someone is trying to sell you one for that price. I wouldn't reply to the person and run away. You still haven't replied to how much you want to spend. ANY company can make top end optics, providing they want to spend the money on the glass.

1st tier optics

Schmidt & Bender
USO

2nd tier optics

NightForce
Swarovski

3rd tier and below

Leupold
Burris
IOR

What are you hanging under that scope? If the scope's any indication of the rifle, it should be capable of very good accuracy. I don't want to tell you your business, but I select better scopes and just save up a little longer rather than caving in to parsimony and getting a sub-standard scope.

I'm with you, Aubie. The last three rifles I scoped were Remington 700P's, the bottom grade scope for those was a Leupold 49208 or Mark 4. I have a new 700P/.308 in need of a lightbucket, looks like it's getting a S&B PM II.
